I also bought some new clothes today! Yay! I tried on a pair of jeans a size smaller than what I am wearing now, and they fit! :-O So, I now have a new pair of jeans, a pair of chords, a pair of pajamas, a sweater, and several long-sleeved shirts in my new size. How exciting is that? It was really cool when I realized I had lost some of my butt. lol
I think I might die before the day is over. I'm already going through separation anxiety. Someone please help me!
Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9-2. *dances*
- Current Mood: ecstatic
This trying to figure out what to wear on a dinner cruise thing is driving me crazy. I'm going to try to get away with wearing something in my closet, but I just realized that the only nice skirt I have doesn't really look good with anything, nor does it fit me properly anymore because I've lost some weight since I've moved here. And the only dress shoes I have here are white. I'd love to get something new but I don't have a lot of money to spend (scratch that. I don't have ANY money to spend) and I don't have a lot of time to get it, so I can't order something online, and there's no place close by to go.
I also don't want to spend a lot of money because I want to save up for a dress for the winter ball. That is, if I ever get a job. If the girl from the bookstore doesn't call me by Friday, I'm going down to Walnut Street and applying at Kards Unlimited and wherever else I can find, because I'm sick of not working.
In other news. . .
Mark Doty is a god! In the workshop yesterday afternoon, he brought a poem and read it aloud, then asked if anyone else would like to read it aloud again because it was such a complex poem. Everyone looked down nervously, hoping not to be picked, and he looked right at me!! I'm like "You're looking at me!" and said something like "Come on, you can do it." So, I read a poem for Mark Doty. And then afterwards, I got him to sign my copy of Source. When this man is the Poet Laureatte of the US, I can hold up that book proudly and say I have the Poet Laureatte's autograph. *swoon*
It was funny because his reading was held in this small, very old building (like all of the buildings on campus) with no air conditioning. So, some of the professors were opening the windows and putting some of those old fashioned window screens in them. Only, they didn't fit right and kept falling out and going thud, which made Mark Doty jump and laugh. Then, right in the middle of him reading a poem about almost being in a plain crash, the lights went out! Actually, they went out once before that too. It was so funny, and just the kind of classic moment you love to happen at poetry readings. I truly believe he was the most entertaining poet I have ever heard read, and just as funny and genuine outside of the reading. I LOVE Mark Doty. He's gay, yeah, but I love him!
